It’s February, and for many, it is a month loaded with predictions, competitions and love connections. That pesky little groundhog kicks things off, followed by the Superbowl and then it is all about hearts, flowers and candy. This got me to thinking; the online marketplace is much the same. We make predictions about our sales, we dig in for the fight with our top competitors and then we take that knowledge and shower our sites with much needed love and attention. We do whatever it takes to reach out and get new customers. Unfortunately, in the midst of the competition, we miss important details such as forgetting to place our products in the spotlight.

One thing that seems to be a stand-out that will continue to impact everyone is the fact that ecommerce shopping is showing no signs of slowing down and will, in fact, continue to grow in 2016. According to Forrester Research U.S. online shopping revenue will surpass $327 billion by 2016, up 45% from $226 billion in 2012 and up 62% from $202 billion in 2011. Moreover, ecommerce is quickly taking a bigger slice of the retail pie, as analysis forecast that by 2016 ecommerce will account for 9% of total retail sales. This number is up from 7% in both 2012 and 2011.
