Surviving and Celebrating

I’m not the first person to say it, the past year or so was a little rough. “We’re all in this together" took on a whole new meaning at ParadoxLabs, and we united to continue moving forward.

We were met with similar challenges to those that other small businesses faced during the pandemic and, without getting into detail, so much more. We’ve done a good job of navigating difficult, and unexpected, waters. And we’re definitely seeing a little bit of light at the other end of the tunnel.

It wasn’t just one or two people, it was everybody.

We often describe ParadoxLabs as a “family.” I know it sounds silly and trite. And I can hear you rolling your eyes because I, too, have worked at companies in the past where the ownership or management spoke about having a “family” environment when that simply wasn’t the case.

ParadoxLabs is different. We know each other. We know each others’ kids, spouses, significant others, and pets. We know the “not-at-work things” each of us enjoys. We know Grace is 7 and has horseback riding lessons on Thursdays at five. We know Oliver (Chairman Meow) loves us because he attends most Zoom meetings from on top of Brett’s keyboard. We know Adam likes to climb stuff and Hammer listens to K-Pop. We know that my son Ben started kindergarten this spring and that Sandee created a “classroom” in her home so he had an environment in which he could focus until he was able to attend in person. In other words, we don’t just know each other, we know each other.

It’s obvious to all of us that we’re lucky to have each other, and ParadoxLabs is extremely fortunate to have an owner like Brett. As our boss, his top priorities are the people who work at ParadoxLabs - not the positions he hired us to fill.

While Brett is our boss, he’s also our friend. Through good times and bad, we work with each other and for each other, and we work for our boss and friend Brett.

Today, May 27th, is Brett’s birthday! We celebrate his birthday yearly just like anyone else’s birthday, but after this past year, we’re exceptionally grateful to celebrate it with him.
