When you hear, “tech central,” what’s the first location that comes to mind? For most people in the industry, it’s Silicon Valley. However, thanks to widespread technology, the information superhighway has grown into an information universe and tech epicenters are popping up all over.
Every year, Google recognizes cities that are quickly becoming the digital capitals of their state. Our hometown has been recognized as one of Google’s “2014 eCities of America!” Instead of saying, “we’re a web development company in Lancaster, PA,” now we can say, “we’re a web development company in Lancaster, the digital capital of PA and one of Google’s 2014 eCities of America!” It has such a nice ring to it.
According to Google, these eCity Awards “recognize the strongest online business community in each state. These cities’ businesses are using the web to find new customers, connect with existing customers and fuel their local economies.” It’s simple – if you’re looking to work in digital anything, Lancaster is one of the top places to be.
Aside from quickly becoming an epicenter for all things digital, Lancaster is a great place to visit too! Often known as “the heart of Amish country,” it’s truly one-of-a-kind. You get all the comforts & experiences of a big city, without the big city hassles and without losing that local flavor. Plus, it’s easy to find hiking trails and beautiful landscapes when you want to get outdoors, enjoy nature, and unplug for a bit.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed in Silicon Valley or thinking of starting your tech career in a new place, there’s no better time to make the move. With all these digital capitals to choose from, it’s a lot easier to pick a city poised to become a “tech central” all its own. For us, Lancaster, PA is it. What about you?
