Short on blog post topics? Need a quick post for social media? Even the most creative people will eventually hit a wall. Sometimes you can get around it easily, other times it just sits in front of you no matter what you do. In times like those, it’s usually productive to take a short break, look at other things, and then get back to brainstorming.
To get you started, here are a few content ideas for August and a ton of off-the-wall holidays to help your creativity get “off the wall” and start generating some ideas:
1. Back-To-School
If you sell office supplies or apparel, this is the season for you! If you don’t, that’s okay – you can still benefit from this theme, you just have to get a bit more creative. You can still create a back-to-school bundle and run coupons. You can also go the educational route and release some how-to product videos or other resources for your customers, like an educational series of blog posts.
2. Summer Blowout
It’s getting towards the end of summer, so if you have inventory to clear out before Black Friday and Christmas, now could be a good time to do it. Customers love clearance sales, so don’t be afraid to run promos that will heat up your sales as summer winds down. If it fits with your business, encourage customers to share summer pictures with your product on social media including a dedicated hashtag.
3. Holiday Prep
It seems both retailers and customers are getting ready for the holidays earlier and earlier. Create some bundled products or run a promotion geared specifically towards your customers who are getting their holiday shopping done early. This is also a good time to reward your loyal customers in a “Christmas is coming early this year” or “just thanking you before Thanksgiving” kind of thing.
4. Vacation
The heat has your customers thinking about vacations; you can bet they’ll be planning to take one or will have recently returned from taking one. Think about your products and bundle them accordingly. Are there any your customers absolutely need for vacation, something to make taking a vacation easier, or something to help them ease back into life after vacation? Staycations are becoming more and more popular, so your angle could be simply how your product can make your customers feel like they’re on vacation.
5. Unusual Holidays
Everyone goes for the big holidays, that’s expected of all retailers. Don’t be afraid to experiment with some lesser-known, bizarre, or unusual holidays just for fun, even if it’s just a funny social post to boost engagement with your customers. Who knows what you’ll come up with after taking a look at the holidays available? Your brand may even find a social cause to promote. These are the holiday insights for August:
